The Bavarian Bier Cafe at Manly is situated on the wharf looking out into the bay. When we arrived a lively Saturday night was well underway, both the interior and the exterior brimming with punters awash with the giddy pleasure of beer. The amber liquid is indeed the catch of the day here, with a full beer menu taking up an entire A3 page in tiny print, with a selection of the best beers from Germany and Europe.
The menu is unpretentious and proudly German, offering dishes such as bratwurst sausages, freshly baked Bavarian pretzels and the "Löwenschnitzel". While the prices are on the more expensive side, but the dishes are roughly the size of a laptop computer so is more than enough when split between two. The dessert menu is even more appetising, with things such as apple strudel and vanilla Anglaise or walnut and date pudding with honey ice-cream, or for those pretending to be adults, a nice cheese platter served with a red wine apple compote.
Overall, the Bavarian Bier Cafe at Manly Wharf is a fun night out with friendly staff and a great atmosphere. As they say in Germany, "Prost!"
